STEM 1A
In the first STEM semester, I studied the intersection of science and technology.
Early in the semester, my
partners and I studied the effects of sunlight on animal tracks in the woods
and
the amount of energy generated by the school's solar panels. Through
observations of many animal tracks and the recordings of the energy generated by
the panels, we were able to determine that as the amount of sunlight decreased
during the fall, the number of animal tracks in our woods and the amount of
power produced by the solar cells decreased as well.

For one of the projects, my partner and I researched the effects of pen
clicking on short term memory. Before beginning the project, we
anticipated that pen clicking would negatively affect short term memory since
people often find it distracting when trying to focus during class.
However, after performing the experiment on teenage girls, it was found that pen
clicking actually had little effect on short term memory.
