The Effect of Background Color on Short Term Memory Retention. Click here for scientific paper.

This study explores the effect of background color on subject’s ability to recall specific details of increasingly complex visual displays. A computer program called Scratch was used to present test subjects with these images as well as true or false questions of these images. To the right is a sample image and question presented to a test subject without any background color present. My partner and I were invited to the Maryland Junior Science and Humanities Symposium to present our findings.

Environmental and Seasonal Change Effect on Dissolved Oxygen Amounts in The Stony Run River. Click here for poster presentation.

In this study, the levels of dissolved oxygen in the Stony Run River, located in the backwoods of Roland Park Country School, were studied according to seasonal and environmental changes. Factors studied included ablative cover, pH, and temperature. Dissolved oxygen levels were recorded using titrimetric analysis. The computer program Scratch was used to predict the effect of environmental factors on dissolved oxygen while Fathom was used to graph and provide r2 values to check the validity of these predictions. Below are a few pictures of Attached here is a poster presentation that summarizes the results.
