Hi my name is Henna Fraiman and I am a current junior at Roland Park Country School. I have been participating in STEM since it was first offered to me, in 8th grade. I have been taking STEM every semester since then. I took 2 semester long classes  of science and teach and then math and engineering. The next year I took 2 semester long classes of math and technology and science and engineering. This year I am taking AP Computer Science Principles class for one of the STEM graduation requirments. This year, I am also working on a in- school research internship that tests different stimuli on turf beads to see how they will react. This can further show if heat or cold tempuratures can negatively affects athletes on turf fields. This summer  I will be participating in The Environmental Science Summer Research Experience for Young Women Internship (E.S.S.R.E). This is a 3 week internship that focuses on the environmental studies including soil chemistry and biota on the Roland Park Country School campus. I am very passionate about science and I have increased my knowledge and skills in science throughout my time in the STEM program at RPCS.

8th Grade STEM:

Toshiba Project : In 8th grade stem the Toshiba project focused on Alzheimer's Disease. We envisioned Nano technoligical robots with the ability to untangle beta-amyloid buildup using micro-orginism, Archea, without totally destroying the beta-amlyloid.

Stem 1A:

Short Term Memory Paper : In the Short Term Memory project, my partner and I did an expiriment on short term memory. The test studied the impact of background pop music on the remembrance of a sequence of shapes. The test was completed by 15 Roland Park Country School female high school students. It was asked that they remember an increasing sequence of shapes while various pop songs played in the background for 10 seconds. After performing the test, it was concluded that pop music has a positive effect on short term memory. When background music was playing, students remembered more shapes.

Stem 1B:

Egg Drop Experiment : In the Egg Drop Experiment, my partner and I made a parachute to protect an egg placed inside. We dropped the egg and our egg did not crack after being dropped because off the slow landing from the parachute and the cushion from the balloons and bubble wrap.

Honors Biology 9:

Soil Ecology : In 9th grade Biology my group and I tested the effects of Pesticides on Bacteria.

Honors Physics 10:

Bottle Rocket Report : For this experiment, we were to create a water bottle rocket that could be launched to go the farthest horizontal distance possible. We used two 2-liter soda bottles to design our rocket.

Stem 2A:

Allusions in Color Presentation : My partner and I researched different allusions in color for our final STEM 2A project.

MC Escher Presentation : My partner and I researched MC Escher and his work during our unit on Hyperbolic geometry.

Stem 2B:

Sustainability Project : For the Sustainability project my group and I wanted to create a programmed robot that would be able to detect trash, collect the trash, and empty the trash to a landfill outside of the harbor.

11th Grade Internship Proposal : In Stem 2B, my group made out proposal for our 11th grade research internship. We wanted to test different stimuli on turf beads to see how they will react. This can further show if heat or cold tempuratures can negatively affects athletes on turf fields.
