Hi, my name is Alex Rubin and I am currently a junior at Roland Park Country School. At RPCS, I have participated in the STEM program since freshmen year, completeing various semester-long stem courses including Stem 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B. The courses each focus on different aspects of the STEM field. My interest in STEM has incresed over my years at RPCS. During the summer of 2015, going into my sophomore year, I participated in the Environmental Science Summer Research Experience for Young Women Internship (E.S.S.R.E). E.S.S.R.E is a three week-long internship in which students focus on environmental studies including soil chemistry and biota on the RPCS campus. My group specifically focused on the effect of Sugar Maples on Nitrogen Levels in the Soil. Throughout my freshmen, sophomore, and junior years, I have taken both honors science and honors math. Next year as a senior, I plan to take AP Physics, AP Computer Science, AP Statistics, AP BC Calc, and Engineering Principles. My incresing love for STEM has encouraged me to further develop my interest and to ultimately pursue a career in the STEM field.
